Peter Heather was born in Northern Ireland and studied Modern History at New College, Oxford University.  He has taught at University College London, Worcester College Oxford, and is now Professor of Medieval History at King’s College London.  He is a specialist in the history of the Later Roman Empire, and of the post-Roman west across the rest of the first millennium AD, publishing books on the Fall of the Western Empire, the development of Europe in the first millennium, the Emperor Justinian, and on the history of Medieval Christianity.

Peter Heather è nato in Irlanda del Nord e ha studiato Storia Moderna al New College dell’Università di Oxford.  Ha insegnato al University College di Londra, al Worcester College di Oxford e ora è professore di Storia medievale al King’s College di Londra.  È uno specialista della storia del tardo impero romano e dell’occidente post-romano nel resto del primo millennio d.C.; ha pubblicato libri sulla caduta dell’impero occidentale, sullo sviluppo dell’Europa nel primo millennio, sull’imperatore Giustiniano e sulla storia del cristianesimo medievale.
